 Mikarie Place, Kirrawee

This project involved designing a second story which was yet to be built on this single story family home. Almost 50% of the second story was dedicated to creating the dream Parents Retreat. It consisted of a large bedroom, oversized dressing room and enormous ensuite.

The dressing room joinery was all custom designed by us. After researching the clients wardrobe needs, we were able to  make sure all their clothes had the perfect amount of hanging space - whether it be for business shirts or long dresses, it was accounted for. A combination of open and closed storage achieved the perfect balance of looking neat and never messy. We even included a laundry shoot to their outside laundry!

The other key areas of this project were the ensuite, kids bathroom, study nook, main bathroom, window furnishings and external facade paint colour selection.

The architect proposed using aluminium windows upstairs to save money, however we insisted that custom cedar windows, that replicated the original 1960’s windows downstairs, were of tremendous importance. As was sourcing and using the original cornice mould that was used downstairs to ensure there was cohesion from the old space to the new space. Our client was so happy we convinced them to do this and didn’t allow them to take the cookie cutter approach.
